I created yuhpp to help people practice a skill that can determine how they spend their career... the interview!
My story of how I got to where I am today is anything but a clear timeline. After graduating college, I began my job search with minimal work experience and limitless expectations for what would become my first real job. Just getting a job interview was hard, and for the few that I finally got, trying not to ramble on about my lack of experience was even harder.
After several character-building years working in insurance sales and as a marketing associate at a startup, I finally got a job working at a major media company in New York City. As I continued on my career, three things always stood out to me:
1) Anyone that left for a new venture would either get more money, a better position, or both!
2) My dream job wasn’t likely going to be waiting for me when I finally decided I was ready for it.
3) Getting to this next level of income, career growth, and happiness would require being perfect through several interview rounds.
Determined to make a change, I set out to get what I was worth. As intimidating and challenging as the interviews were, I was getting better through doing. Practicing with friends or family, and with each new interview that I had, the repetition made me stronger.
Once I boiled down what information was being gathered to show that I possessed the leadership principle or skill that the interviewer was looking for, forming my responses that showcased my experience became simple.
I founded yuhpp because interviewing should not be a secret. Interviewing is a skill that, through practice, anyone can get better at and master. Yuhpp’s goal is to be a platform that helps individuals accomplish just that so you will always be prepared for your next opportunity.
